SmartPhones now make up 42% of adult mobile subscribers in the US according to the PEW Internet Project study. The Project’s May 2011 survey found that 83% of US adults have a cell phone of some kind, and that 42% of them own a SmartPhone. That translates into 35% of all adults.
Mobile Search: According to ComScore 36 percent of mobile Americans browsed the mobile web in December 2010. Compare this to more than 75 percent of mobile subscribers in Japan are connected media users (used their browser, accessed applications or downloaded content).
Mobile Only: According to On Device Research approximate 25% of American mobile Web users are mobile-only. This segment does not, or very rarely uses a desktop, laptop or tablet to access the Web.
Local Intent: 50% of mobile queries have local intent, and 46% of mobile queries pertain to infotainment according to Andy Chu, director of Bing for mobile. They’re using the web to figure out what to do and where to go next.
Peak Search: Mobile search peaks during evenings and weekends while desktop search peaks during morning hours Monday through Friday. This is according to aniCrossing study.
Purchase Decision: Searchers on mobile devices are closer to making an immediate purchase decision. Mobile searchers will tend to make a purchase decision within the next 24 hours. Desktop searchers are more likely to make their purchase decision within the next 30 days.
mCommerce: US, mCommerce revenues are expected to hit $6 billion by the end of 2011, growing to $31 billion by 2016, according to Forrester Research

Its been pretty busy lately that I have forgotten to update my blog. Have had my hands full with flash especially. I created a photo gallery for WCN and still am working our flash header. Uploading videos and swf files to WCN is much more difficult than expected, it saves but than when we attempt to see it live, it just disappears! Anyways we have everything working, thankfully.

There are also two new websites I have been touching up, Debra Botwins and Camerons Design. Small touch ups, adding blogs, playing with typefaces, etc. Things are looking good and they should be completed very shortly!

Week 1, June

Back from vacation, I’ve had a few things to catch up on. First I updated the OBR local news page with the latest OBR minutes. I’ve also helped laurie with Hudsons Furnitures blog, our first problem was that we would have to upgrade to add custom css, so we had to find a new template with custom headers and now it’s got their own header!

I received two zipped files containing separate websites that I uploaded to our powerhouse server to test everything out. So far everything is functional, just waiting on a little more content to add and it should be complete. Than I was given a small code to paste into toddminers homepage, pasted and uploaded it real quick.

Other minor updates include: adding sex and the city page under special events, clients page has been updated and all the links are working, and now im just placing new video clips, provided by haley, into our work section.

Yesterday I was stuck, beating myself up trying to fix these todd miner forms by adding required fields. So I came in today and started to do my research and fixed the problem real quick. Very interesting piece of code that I will use in future projects as well. I have also been helping Haley just resize photos and adding some html content on the Wesley Chapel Nissan website.

Uploading all of Todd Miners pages was taking forever but it is finally done, the free evaluation forms now have required fields and are fully functional! Now I can go on my vacation feeling accomplished.

First I added the new OBR minutes to the local news page. I have also been working on the new special events for celebrity nissan, the sex and the city promo. New Todd Miner flash swfs have been added to our work section, in the dynamic banners be sure to check them out.

I am still working on the flash header and the sex and the city promo. I also have been learning about joombla and drupal to help me push my web design even further. Adobe CS5 will be coming out at the end of the month also and it incorporates both of those programs as well. Will definitely try them out and hope to get a copy of CS5.

This week I have updated Haleys, Ingrids, and Amandas powerhouse profiles, just minor updates. Added a new event page, the scion showdown event, with every video placed inside the page.

I have also been working on the Flash header, mainly the navigation rollover effects and clicks, very time consuming but it will add a nice little spice to the website!

Last week during my vacation we had a project that had to be done ASAP, the Todd Miner page was just transferred to a new host and I successfully uploaded it all over. Took a few tries and had to figure some things out but it got done! Was a proud moment for myself Keep checking on the site for updates!

Our People pages are up! But 3 pages still need to be added.

Our Work has been updated as well, and a “testimonials” page has been added, plus every page has a piece of work inside.

I have added 5 OBR clips to the local news page.

Finally have updated almost everything, just need a little more info and it will be complete. For the following week I will be working with Flash to make the header more interactive. Keep an eye out for it!

So far this week I have been working on our people pages. Trying to get everyone profile up, with a little image to spice up the people page. As soon as all the information and photos are together I will upload it and it will be live for everyone to see. I also touched up the navigation so that it isn’t in a boring grey box, it now fits the logo colors much better.

The site will be fully updated within the next couple of days, stay tuned!
